Emily is dedicated to advancing her clients’ interests by delivering practical, efficient, and effective legal solutions to complex problems. In addition to her broader litigation practice, she provides strategic guidance on employment matters, including termination negotiations and workplace disputes. She is committed to providing high-quality legal services while ensuring that her clients feel heard and supported at every stage of the litigation process.
Before joining McCague Borlack LLP, Emily practiced at a litigation boutique in Ottawa, where she regularly represented both plaintiffs and defendants. This dual-sided experience sharpens her ability to anticipate the opposition’s position and build effective litigation strategies.
Emily’s interest in litigation developed early in her career and has continued to grow through her extensive work before the courts. She has honed her written and oral skills through appearances before the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Divisional Court, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and the Small Claims Court, as well as before various administrative tribunals.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Emily worked in several federal departments, where she developed strong drafting and legal research skills. During law school, Emily served as a Teaching Assistant in Torts Law and presented weekly tutorials to more than 60 students.
In her spare time, Emily enjoys travelling to unique locations, including Ponte dei Pugni in Venice, Italy, and Skellig Michael off the coast of Ireland. When at home, she loves to watch cooking shows while attempting to replicate the techniques she sees on screen.
